STORY

Hello everyone, this is my rendition of Michael Land‘s Monkey Island Main Title Theme. I love soundtracks! I love soundtrack composers, like Michael Land, Russell Shaw (Fable TLC), Michael Giacchino (The Incredibles), Nicola Piovani (La Vita è Bella), John Williams, Ennio Morricone and many others. Bringing a story to life using music, mostly simple music, well It’s just magical! Now, this is a simple acoustic guitar arrangement (yes, it is!). I composed it about two years ago. I made two videos of this and posted on You Tube. The first one was, although very funny, spoiled by the awful sound of the camera zoom (a little old Kodak of the 2005); other users made me notice that, it was a pain indeed! So I shot another one without the crackling sound

STRUCTURE

There are four sections: Intro, A, B and an ending that is a piece of the A section. The hardest part is bar 20: there’s descending scale with a thump of the right hand while the left hand is playing a pull-off. I heartily recommend to to study this part over and over, very clear and slowly: It’s worth the effort – it’s the icing on the cake! The part that i love more is the B section. When it comes, oh God, it gives me a thrill! I feel the A section as the anticipation of the B. Pay attention while listening to a rendition of this song without the B section (there are many on YT): feel your legs give way! I hope you enjoy playing this little thing that gave to me great pleasure.
